Today we created a Single Vegetarian Book Club. A group of females that are single, love reading books about being single and does not eat anything with legs - MEN included.
We are 3 females that, for some reason or the other, found each other and share so many similarities in our lives now. It’s so uncanny that the whole lunch we kept shouting “Oh my God, That’s so true!!!”.
We opened our first epiphanies with the way people react to us when they first meet us - “Ohhhhh, So who are you dating now? No one???? Awwwww.... Its ok. You’ll find someone soon. Like wow, what a tragedy. Being single = tragedy. We had the same reaction - Smile secretly because we know how much fun were having in our lives and with our careers. It’s useless trying to explain. A bit defensive? No, thats just the reaction Married and Coupled women have with us single ones. Maybe they regret getting married and want to share their misery with someone. Sorry girl, not with us.
Another thing we agreed on was how our parents are already giving excuses about us being independent and single... I remember my darling Dad always introducing me, “This is my daughter, she doesn’t want to get married and have kids, the new generation now, really different from ours” - all in one breath. I’m like Dad, we just met them, I don’t think they care. And what we really can’t stand is the Aunts & Uncles looking at you sympathetically and saying that your biological clock is ticking or your shelf life is almost up or worse - you’re expired already. Like a can of potted meat.
There are so many books we talked about - Why men love bitches, The Childless Revolution, The feminine mistake and so on. We love our careers, we love our time to ourselves, we love everything about being single. Why rush? Enjoy every little thing you can, lunch with friends, a good workout, a good book, a damn good vacation.
In our other groups, we feel different, we feel like we really can’t relate when it comes to talking about spouses or children but the 3 of us talking about our lives, we feel normal, we feel empowered, we feel great.
If you catch yourself saying “Oh my God, Thats so true!” to any of the conversations above...
Coma and join our Single Vegetarian Book Club.
